"The work of planting churches in Canada has been multiplied through the BCPM Seed Bank and the wide distribution of John and Romans.  I have not seen another program that is more effective in laying a strong groundwork for a fledgling congregation."

Update on the Glastonbury Baptist Church Plant

We are overwhelmed and excited to report that we had sixty people in attendance at our Grand Opening with thirty-seven from the community (twenty-two first time visitors) and the rest from our sending church at Central Baptist in Southington, CT. On Sunday evening ten people joined the new church by transfer of letter. God answered our prayer for three families who were grounded in the faith to join us. We are working with about ten other individuals who either need to be saved and/or baptized or are looking for a church home who are very interested in the church. Please continue to pray for the various families here at Glastonbury Baptist Church. Praise the Lord!

What is truly amazing is that on Sunday evening just before our evening service we had a major thunderstorm and flood warning for our town; yet, God still brought back twenty-two people with two new visitors for Sunday evening. We are thrilled that God has done great things.

Update on Castle Rock

Oct. 1 Update: We are doing well here in Castle Rock, CO. The Lord has been blessing the church. This past Sunday was our 7th Sunday and we had 57 in attendance and 5 more join! Praise the Lord.

This report comes from Pastor Tate Throndson.

Update on the Blue River Baptist Church Plant in Edinburgh, Indiana

Tuesday evening. We had great services on Tuesday evening. There were sixty nine in attendance. There were three visitors from the area. One of them, was a man that has been there every service. Last night he brought a friend of his. There were six children in the nursery with three workers. The Fellowship Baptist Church of Trafalger, IN provided the ushers, nursery workers, and snacks. There were people from five different churches present. The pastor from Greenville, IN preached a great message. Also, on Sunday a teenager from the reproducing church had come forward for baptism. He came with his parents to Edinburgh Sunday evening. On Monday evening he brought a friend who was unsaved. On the way home after the service Monday evening, he led his teenage friend to the Lord in the back seat of his parents' car.

Monday evening. We had good services with fifty four in attendance. Two people were returning visitors from the community. There was a sweet spirit and almost all stayed to visit for awhile afterward. Special music was brought from the Lifeway Baptist Church in Elletsville, IN. It was a blessing.
On Sunday evening for the opening service there were 101 people there with six visitors from Edinburgh.
We are looking forward to service tonight (Tues).  We will get out some more John/Romans today. They do not have many left to do.
Monday night a woman stopped outside the building about ten minutes after the service had started and said she had just seen the signs and was on her way home from work.  She had frozen food in a supermarket bag so she could not stay but would be back another night.
Praise the Lord for Pastor Ries. He is a genuine man with a burden to impact Edinburgh for the glory of God.

Update on Church Plant for Hinton Baptist Church; Hinton, Alberta

Most Recent Update (Oct. 5): On Sunday morning there were twenty-one in attendance with two first-time visitors. (a married lady and her thirteen month old son). Special music was provided by the "Victory Trio" from Sherwood Park. On Sunday evening there were twenty in attendance with one first time visitor (a young man around age twenty). We are planning "Fall Fun for the Family" on Oct. 18. We are looking forward to a great time of fellowship and inviting others that have expressed interest in the church. Please pray for Hinton Baptist Church and for my family. We are looking to add a mid-week prayer meeting and a Sunday School hour to the church schedule by the end of the month!

September 11, 2008 - Update for Hinton Baptist Church Get-Acquainted Meetings: The final service in Hinton was one of the most impressive final services I have been in. There were around 50 in the service with most of the visitors from the previous nights from the Hinton area attending. We did not have any first time visitors from the area tonight. Pastor Shane Davis spoke on John 1:22, “Then said they unto him, (John the Baptist) Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?” It was an excellent message in sharing his vision for Hinton Baptist Church. Following the invitation, Pastor Harness came to the pulpit and read the motions passed by Victory Baptist Church on July 13th and then proceeded to share with those in attendance that one more matter of business needed to be taken care of. He then asked the members of Victory to transfer the memberships of Pastor and Mrs. Davis to Hinton Baptist Church and also there were two other families that chose to join the church as well. The folks from Victory voted them into the membership of Hinton Baptist. Pastor Harness then read the “Declaration of Independence” formally making Hinton Baptist Church an independent Baptist church. He then had a prayer of dedication and we all sang the Doxology.

I want to thank the members of Victory Baptist who sacrificed so much for this church plant. Nearly 20 of them took off work and stayed in Hinton for these meetings. They prepared meals and also did whatever was necessary to make this church plant a success. Nearly half of the homes in Hinton were knocked on during the afternoons and there were visitors from the community because of those efforts. I also want to thank the pastors and members of 13 or 14 churches that traveled more than two hours to attend these meetings and help knock on doors. Some of these pastors and members also stayed for several days in Hinton. I honestly believe God has blessed this meeting because of the cooperation of these churches in this church planting effort.

May we all pray for the Grand Opening Sunday for Hinton Baptist Church and that the Lord will continue to bring out visitors and that this church will be a great lighthouse in this community.

September 10, 2008 - Update for Hinton Baptist Church Get-Acquainted Meetings: We had another good service last evening with 70 in attendance and six more first time visitors from the community representing two families.  Many of the other first time visitors returned for the service.  Please pray for Brother Davis as he preaches this evening. Pastor Brent Thomas from Bible Baptist Church in Edmonton brought a good group with him and they also brought an offering of over $1000.00 for the church plant.  Several other pastors have given toward the church plant as well.

September 9, 2008 - Update for Hinton Baptist Church Get-Acquainted Meetings: On Monday evening we had 75 in the service with all Sunday night visitors returning except for one family who said they could not return until Wednesday evening. There were also two new visitors in the service. It was an impressive service with 10 preachers attending from Alberta and British Columbia. We introduced these pastors in the service and those visiting from the area could see that these men were here because they want to see a solid church in Hinton and that they believe in Pastor and Mrs. Davis. Below is a list of the pastors who attended and the time it took them to get to the meeting:

Pastor Pat Hollingsworth – Grace Baptist Church – Wabamun, Alberta – 2 hrs.
Pastor Tim Bicha – Harvest Baptist Church, Grand Prairie, AB – 5 hrs.
Pastor Andy Baduria – Berean Baptist Church, Quensel, BC – 6.5 hrs.
Pastor Jeff Hallmark – Spruceland Baptist Church, Prince George, BC – 5.5 hrs.
Dr. Bill Hiltz BMFP – Came with Brother Hallmark – 5.5 hrs.
Evangelist Dave Webster – Prince Albert SK – 11 hrs.
Pastor Brian Rice – Cornerstone Baptist Church – Edmonton, AB – 3 hrs.
Pastor Paul Szabatin – Cornerstone Baptist Church – Edmonton, AB - 3 hrs.
Pastor Greg Vaal – New Testament Baptist Church – Edmonton – 3 hrs.
Pastor Shem Daharenpar – Mt View Baptist Church – Olds AB - 5 hrs.
Pastor Dave Harness – Victory Baptist Church – Sherwood Park, AB 3.5 hrs.

Please pray for the final two services of these Get Acquainted Meetings.

September 8, 2008 - Update for Hinton Baptist Church Get-Acquainted Meetings: We had a very good start to the meetings last evening. There were around 60 to 70 in church with seven families in the service from the Hinton area. Three of these families were completely new to Pastor Davis. The others had attended services already being held. This is a great start in this small community of 5000 near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in western Alberta. After the service all the visitors except one stayed around to visit and seemed interested in this new work. Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood Park, the reproducing church, brought a good crowd for the service and many plan to stay for the entire meeting. Churches are traveling nearly 200 miles to participate in these meetings. Please pray for safety and for the services over the next three days.

September 7, 2008 - Update for Hinton Baptist Church Get-Acquainted Meetings: This was a great Grand Opening Sunday. There were twenty four in the morning service with two first-time visitors and several coming that were in the Get-Acquainted Meetings. On Sunday evening there were eighteen in the service with another first-time visitor. Also, Pastor Davis and his family have found housing in Hinton and will be moving very soon. We are so thankful for this new work; please pray for God’s continued blessing on Pastor Davis and Hinton Baptist Church.

Planting Churches . . . for the Glory of God!

Baptist Church Planting Ministry was founded fifteen years ago. BCPM has had the opportunity to partner with churches all across the United States and in foreign countries and start over sixty churches. In turn, those churches have reached hundreds of souls for Christ and have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to foreign missions and started other churchjessup_pices as well.

BCPM operates two home offices, one in the United States and one in Canada. Although I serve as the general director for all church plants, the ministry is blessed to be staffed with a field representative and a project coordinator.

As the general director, if I can be of any help to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. We want to welcome you to the wonderful and rewarding ministry of church planting for the glory of God; we thank you for your interest and thank you also for visiting our website.
